THE ROLE INVOLVES:
The role is for our partner's Development Services international/global team. Their vision is to enable development teams to adopt Standardized Platforms, Pipelines and DevX across all teams.
As a member of Development Services team, you will be interacting very closely with product development teams, in different regions across the globe.
Development Services team also owns Release & Deployment as a capability & process and is aiming to standardize GitLab across the organization.
This role plays a critical part in a large-scale CI/CD platform migration from Jenkins to GitLab. The successful candidate must have strong, hands-on experience with both Jenkins and GitLab, and proven ability to analyze existing Jenkins pipelines, redesign them using GitLab CI/CD, and support development teams throughout the transition.
Responsibilities:
GitLab Administration:
Manage GitLab instances (self-hosted or SaaS), including configuration, upgrades, and performance tuning.
Implement and maintain user access controls, group structures, and project permissions.
Implement and maintain GitLab Duo.
CI/CD Pipeline Development:
Assess, migrate, and refactor existing Jenkins pipelines into GitLab CI/CD, ensuring functional parity, performance improvements, and alignment with standardized pipeline frameworks.
Design and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
Integrate security scans (SAST, DAST, dependency checks) into pipelines.
DevSecOps Enablement:
Embed compliance and security policies into GitLab workflows.
Implement GitOps practices for infrastructure and application deployments.
Integration & Automation:
Connect GitLab with tools like AWS, OpenShift, Jenkins (during migration and coexistence phase), Nexus, AquaSec, Jira, Splunk.
Automate workflows using GitLab APIs and custom scripts.
Governance & Best Practices:
Define and promote standardized CI/CD templates and migration patterns to help teams move from Jenkins to GitLab efficiently and consistently.
Define branching strategies, merge request workflows, and code review standards.
Provide training and guidance to development teams on GitLab usage and best practices.
TECHNICAL PLAYGROUND:
Advanced knowledge and relevant experience on GitLab administration.
Advanced, hands-on Jenkins experience, including design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex pipelines, with proven experience migrating CI/CD workloads from Jenkins to GitLab.
Experience performing CI/CD platform migrations at scale, including pipeline translation, plugin replacement, secret management migration, and change management with development teams.
Advanced knowledge of GitLab CI/CD.
Strong understanding of Git workflows and version control principles.
Advanced knowledge of branching strategies - Trunk based with feature toggling.
Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift).
Cloud exposure (AWS preferred).
NICE TO HAVE:
Proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
Exposure to OpenShift.
Exposure to DORA metrics and pipeline standardization.
Awareness of critical concepts in DevOps and Agile principles.
Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and security scanning tools.
A demonstrated record of achievement in large-scale CI/CD or DevOps platform migration projects (e.g., Jenkins to GitLab).
Ability to keep up with software and cloud development trends and innovation.
Understanding of financial services and risk management in general.
Relevant university degree in Computer Science/Engineering.
